As of Sept. 13, 2021. We welcome all newly ABFAS Board Qualified DPMs and congratulate new Diplomates. We admire your dedication to the field of foot and ankle surgery.

Dr. Burns has been a valued member of the ABFAS community since 1984, when he began service on the Credentials Committee. He served on, and was chair of, both the Oral and Written Examination Committees.

ABFAS has served as a longtime partner in APMA’s student recruitment activities. This most recent contribution is in addition to ABFAS’ five-year commitment of a $25,000 annual allocation that started in 2019, and doubles ABFAS support for fiscal year 2021 to $50,000.

The growth of ABFAS has been propelled collectively by volunteers, and by all the Past Presidents and members of the Board of Directors.

Since the February 2021 postponement of the Part II CSPE, the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners (NBPME) has established an investigation to review options and ensure pathways for progression and licensure for its students and residents, while maintaining the trust earned from patients, the public, licensing authorities and others that DPM graduates have the requisite skills.

The Podiatry Logging Service for Surgery (PLS) website will be offline for scheduled maintenance starting at 7:00 a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, September 14.

ABFAS is saddened to report the passing on August 28, 2021, of longtime staffer Carl Lawrence, a beloved fixture of the ABFAS community.

The pandemic has been difficult for all of us. Quarantines and patient appointment cancellations have evolved into webinars, teleconferences, and telehealth visits.
