The ABFAS Board of Directors announces the search process to replace retiring CEO/Executive Director Kathy Kreiter, who has served the organization and the profession for the past 10 years.

The American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery announced Jordan Jefferson from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine and JoAnn Micah Sedoriosa from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science as the winners of the 2024 ABFAS Surgeons of Tomorrow Student Conference Scholarship Contest.

The Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) seeks input on the recently revised CPME 220, “Standards and Requirements for Recognition of a Specialty Board for Podiatric Medical Practice,” and CPME 230, “Procedures for Recognition of a Specialty Board for Podiatric Medical Practice.” This is your opportunity to weigh in on the future of board certification.

As a certifying board that holds our Diplomates to the highest standards, we are extremely disappointed to see the recently published article, What's the difference between orthopaedic surgeons and podiatrists?, featuring numerous inaccuracies and half-truths. The AMA/author appear to be describing the podiatric profession 75 years ago, failing to recognize the evolution of our education and contributions to the medical field.

ABFAS Diplomates can now earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for each completed quarter of the LEAD Continuous Certification Program. To earn LEAD CME credit, Diplomates must complete all 30 questions in a quarter.

Over the last few weeks, activity on various podiatry social media platforms has surged, including personal attacks against those in leadership positions within podiatry. We join our fellow organizations in urging the podiatric medical community to stop this destructive behavior.

We welcome discussion and effort to collectively ensure a strong future for our profession. This APMA Board Certification Summit, however, does not properly support such an important endeavor.
