Students Honor ABFAS with Partner of the Year Award

At their House of Delegates meeting on March 27, the student delegation of the American Podiatric Medical Students’ Association presented ABFAS leadership with the 2024 Partner of the Year Award.
“ABFAS has long been recognized for its unwavering commitment to excellence in foot and ankle surgery,” said APMSA Corporate Partners Officer Mark Gabriel, a fourth-year podiatric medical student at Temple University School of Podiatric
Medicine. “But what sets ABFAS apart—and why we’re honoring them today—is their incredible investment in students. From robust mentorship initiatives to meaningful financial support, ABFAS has shown a deep understanding
of what it takes to shape a strong future for podiatric medicine. They are not only advancing the art and science of foot and ankle surgery; they’re also lifting up the next generation of leaders in this field.”
APMSA represents the collective interests of more than 2,400 podiatric medical student members. To support the organization, its student members, and the leadership pipeline, ABFAS sponsors APMSA at the Visionary Level.
In addition to opportunities to address the APMSA House of Delegates and contribute articles in APMSA’s Footnotes magazine, ABFAS has increased its visibility through webinars, communications channels, and sponsorship of the APMSA Academic &
Athletic Conference. In August of last year, we began hosting standalone college visits, through their APMSA liaisons, focusing on achieving work/life balance. Last Fall, we hosted our first student-facing webinar, in which members of the Communications
Committee discussed 10 ways to solidify success in practice.
“We were very humbled and honored that our students have acknowledged our efforts and support for them. We know that the students are our future, and we take great pride in supporting them, mentoring them, and watching them succeed,” said ABFAS President Michelle L. Butterworth, DPM, FACFAS. “There’s no higher honor than being recognized by our students for our high quality and dedication to our profession.”
