Personal Statement

It has been a tough year.

Our profession has been challenged, divided, and scrutinized. But we continue to forge our way forward because we trust that we can do so and succeed.

Trust. It is a simple word that the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery embodies and values above all else. By upholding a rigorous and consistent board certification process, ABFAS has dedicated its mission to safeguarding the public welfare and preserving the reputation of its diplomates.

But to continue to provide our diplomates with the most efficient mechanisms to be lifelong learners, we must innovate. To best serve its members, ABFAS continues to stay on the cutting edge of the certification process with strategic steps to allow residents the opportunity to use the Final-year In-training Exams towards Board Qualification. Additionally, launching of the LEAD program promotes continuous learning, coupled with flexibility and ease for busy surgeons.

I am privileged to run for the ABFAS Board. Serving as a residency program director and past president of ACFAS has provided me with the experience and collaborative skillset to understand the challenges our profession faces and the broader professional community that we serve. I hope to serve our membership with the core values of trust and innovation that ABFAS promotes.

Thank you for your consideration.
