The American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS) is the only foot and ankle surgery certification board recognized by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME).
Our rigorous multi-year process for podiatrists to become ABFAS Board Qualified and Board Certified ensures the highest standards of patient care, giving patients and providers confidence that they are working with podiatrists who have both specialized clinical experience and surgical skill.
It is important for patients, providers, and the broader medical community to understand the differences between ABFAS Board Certification in foot and ankle surgery and other unrecognized certifications in podiatric surgery. These are not comparable credentials.
